Hi Pat,

Coat of Arms do not belong to a surname. They were the property of a
certain person in history and they are inherited by his sons, to their
sons and so on. What you need to do is find the individual and than
prove direct male decent to yourself.

I assume they are of Germanic origin so your best bet is Rietstap's
Armorial , try this link: http://www.blazonsearch.com/index.php

Can you give me some direction so I can determine (1) where they are from; (2) who proclaimed this Coat of Arms on the particular family; (3) and history of its design. You see, I have three pictures of different SCHEFFLER "Coat of Arms" that I can display in an attachment - if this allowed on this site. Because I am a woodcarver, I have carved all three of these Coat of Arms in wood and would like to separate each to a specific area of the Country; if it is in Germany, Poland or Russia. Thanks for your help and direction.
