I have just come home from tramping up a hill through lots of weeds in the 
rain to an old country cemetery on top of a hill on Carr Creek Road in 
Bedford County, TN.  There I found the grave of a James Miller with the 
following inscription:

Revolutionary Soldier
James Miller
Departed this life
Mar. 16, 1840
Aged 86 Years
I have fought a good
fight and have gone
home.

Beside the stone is one of his wife Elizabeth Miller.

I have a letter from a man written in 1923 which says that he and Angeline 
(Miller; married Handin George) learned how to spell "liberty" from a 
silver cup while sitting on their grandfather's knee.  He says that the cup 
was carried by their grandfather (no name) when he fought with Washington.

Do anyone know anything about this fellow?
