What costs is a search engine called "One World Tree". Many of us don't care for it -- not because it costs, necessarily, but because we find it more confusing. So, we continue to go to AWT at http://www.ancestry.com/trees/awt/main.aspx , or the Rootsweb version, WorldConnect at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/ which by the way, is sponsored by Ancestry.com. And, if you don't want your tree uploaded, you can take it off. Unless, like me, there's one there that was once on a FTM CD, uploaded by an unknown person, and now has my incorrect spelling, remarks, and so on, but without anyway to (a) fix it, or (b) be contacted.
