According to the Oxford English Dictionary, "to shill" had the following
usages in Yorkshire (from a 1788 source):

"To sever sheep is to shill them"
"Turning a small quantity of milk into curds and whey is called shilling it"

I have an 1756 deed from Yorkshire, England and the man is listed as a
Shiller. What occupation would that have been?
I tried Google and the Roots occupation site with no luck.
