Subject: [ROOTS-L] GODFREY LIBRARY
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

Have been reading much on this list regarding the GODFREY LIBRARY and would
like to add my opinion:

I have had the GODFREY LIBRARY site for a number of years. Yes, they did
have to remove some sites due to the extreme cost being charged - the Heritage
Quest was one. The GODFREY LIBRARY however did provide me with a list of
Libraries in my area that did provide Heritage Quest - it was about a 1/2 hour
drive to the town where the Library was, I filled out an application for a
Library Card (which had a bar code number on it needed to use their on-line
site) - got it for FREE, just my time to drive there, etc. I can now use this
Library's Heritage Quest, but am still a member of GODFREY LIBRARY. I am on a
limited income as many are, but feel that I can afford the $35 for the
membership, after all, genealogy is a very serious hobby for me and I make sure
that I can pay the yearly membership since they offer tons and are adding new
sites for searching (they are also very helpful when you call - you actually
speak with a REAL person. I also feel where can I do this searching in my PJ's
24/7 ! I also provide the GODFREY LIBRARY with the
obituaries/marriage/birth section from my local newspaper (which, upon receipt, is transcribed by a
volunteer of the GODFREY LIBRARY), hoping that my small input can help others
in some small way.

I do wish the new Director would place a note on this site as to some of the
new sites they have added, I received a typed copy with my renewal notice -
which I am renewing......

Thanks for reading what I have in the way of MY opinion and hope it helps
someone/anyone to decide.

Jan
