Subject: [ROOTS-L] Getting records

It is getting much more difficult to obtain the records we need for our various genealogies. For example, if you wish to obtain records from Keene, NH this is just a sample of the requirement in addition to the usual information genealogists must submit.
  HOW TO REQUEST VITAL RECORDS
(Certified Copies of a Birth, Death or Marriage Records)

Requesting certified copies in person:
Be prepared to confirm your identity with picture identification.
Requesting certified copies through the mail:
....and a photocopy of picture identification to confirm your identity, along with the following:
The Bureau will require that you fax them a copy of your picture i.d. to confirm identity

I even had an instance where they would not accept a valid U.S. passport.
How much more silly can you get?

  Ed
