There are tax lists and other records for the Republic of Texas that may help you. You might have to do some digging. You might try Google, the Family History Library or a genealogy library. Some Free Online Census Records Indexes - USA http://www.researchguides.net/census/free.htm Hardin County was formed in 1858 from Liberty and Jefferson Counties.
