Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: removing black album paper

I did a google search on the statement:"removing black album paper from photos.

I was surprised at the great list of resources. One is
http://www.photography-museum.com/archival.html

this is the website of the American Museum of Photography-preserving and protecting photographs.

There is some good information there. They recommend a company called "Light Impressions" as a source for information and supplies. A couple of the other sites on this subject also mentioned this company as being expert in techniques and having reliable materials for sale.

other sites:
http://www.preservation.gc.ca/howto/articles/photos_e.asp
this is a Canadian website: Preserving My Heritage

http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1068
this contains postings from people who have tried various techniques
others have tried the water, either immersing or using wet sponges.

http://www.pbs.org/opb/historydetectives/diy/preservation_check.html
PBS pages on preservation etc of photos and links to other associated topics.

the National Archives has information very similar on their site.

there are more sites...with similar information...by doing the google search
