Subject: [ROOTS-L] Removing vintage photos that are pasted to old black scrapbook pages

There are two versions of "Un-du". One is "Un-du Adhesive Remover" and the
other is "Un-du Photo". I have used both and both work great. Un-du
Adhesive Remover is intended to remove those nasty, impossible-to-remove
labels that manufacturers and stores put on their products. It works
quickly, cleanly and where everything else I tried failed. Un-du Photo is
specificially targeted to remove adhesive residue from photographs. I have
used it to remove cellophane tape residue from the face of photographs. It
removed the residue completely, dried quickly, didn't appear to leave any
spotting or scent, and didn't appear to damage or alter the photos in any
way. I don't know what the chemical difference is - or if there actually
is a difference. The Adhesive Remover is available at hardware stores and
Wal-Mart. The Photo version is sold at scrapbooking stores. Like
everything else now, both are also sold online.

I haven't tried to remove black scrapbook paper and I would suspect that
the result would depend upon the type of paste or glue that was originally
used. We would be very interested in hearing how it works for that
application.

Neal
