I've been online for a good many years and I remember this or something
similar made the rounds a few years ago. Always someone or some company sharing
ill-gotten gains with us, the poor dumb public.
I would be so suspicious of this.
For 3 months I've received notices from AOL that our account has not allowed
them to take out their payment. Someone was deducting AOL payments so I
disregarded it until the last.

My gosh, it was so authentic. Even AOL letterhead and photos, naturally an
email link, and a telephone number. We were threatened with cut off within
24 hours.
So my husband called the phone number and it was AOL. Seems genuine, right?
But when she checked our account it had been paid monthly through automatic
withdrawal and she asked if we'd clicked on the link. Of course not.
But how clever of spammers and scammers to add a real long distant phone
number to go with a free link to them. Most would save the few pennies and use
the link. So do be careful when you get something like this. Call the
number, see if it is genuine.
The notice came again this month. The criminals never give up, it seems,
so someone must be falling for their schemes and making them richer in the
process..
