Subject: [ROOTS-L] MILLER Connections

Hello Lucille,
Thank you for the compliment but most of all for taking the time to
reply to my posting. I am so excited to be in contact with you and I am pretty
sure that we haven't to date exchanged information so I anticipate a wonderful
journey of finding our connection. My gr aunt shared that an elder person
in our family told her that if there is a MILLER then there is a relative. My
gr aunt recalled being told this on more than one occasion as she was
growing up. She is the baby of 9 children and is currently in her late 70's.
I will attempt to list what I have thus far regarding my MILLER lineage
so we can begin the digging (smile):

MYRA MILLER, born circa 1858 in Alabama per 1880 Census. It is interesting
that her father is indicated to have been from North Carolina and mother from
Alabama. The very next household has the following--
Armisted Miller from NC
Hariet Miller from Alabama
Samuel Miller
Edward Miller
Robert Miller
Creecy Miller
Susan Miller

On the 1900 Census I believe that MYRA's name is misspelled as MARRY. It
shows that 9 children are in the household; where as it shows that she had 13
children with 12 still living as of the Census. These are the children on the
Census--
Esmes (?) 1879
Francis(?) 1882
Jim 1884
Anna 1888
William 1880
Thomas 1893
Ella 1896 My gr grandmother Louella ANDERSON md Elijah CROSS
Elbert 1897
Cresy 1899

Additional children on the 1880 Census are--
Susan 1876
Albert 1878
Emma 1880

It is quite possible that some listed as children might very well be MYRA's
siblings and/or WILLIAM and MYRA both had children prior to their marriage to
one another. I've got a lot of digging to do in this area.

Per the 1910 Census it appears that MYRA was deceased because WILLIAM is
shown as a Widower with 4 of the children in his household--
Jim 22
William 21
Ellis 15
Tresses or
Presses 13

Per my search on Ancestry.Com, it appears that MYRA's death date may have
been 21 Mar 1910.

LOUELLA ANDERSON married my gr grandfather, ELJIAH CROSS and they had 9
children. My grandmother was ETTA MAE CROSS and she passed away in 1983.

Is any of the above ringing any bells? I have printed your emails and I am
combing through them to see what I can find. Do you know anything about the
African Tribe that your MILLER line may have come from? Per some information
that I received because of my posting a vintage photo of what is said to be
MYRA, I've been directed to research the Fulani Tribe because of the thinner
nose and lips.

I will stop here for now to await your response.

Rich Blessings,
Terri
