Many of us recieve help everyday with our genealogical studies from the LDS but I think few of us know anything about the sufferings they endured to establish their faith in the midwest and west For instance they had great hopes and faith that a major headquarters would be in and near Independance,Jackson Co MO but they were driven from their "promised land" there totally in the 1830's. I wonder if anyone knows the status of the LDS in that county today?Did they ever reeastablish a foothold there? How are the facilities there for researching todayJust some thoughts not directly related to research but effecting some portions no doubt.Would welcome comments. Ida
