Alaska isn't the only state without income taxes,  although at one time they 
were horrendous.  Washington State and Nevada  also have no income taxes.  
There might be other states, too.   Military declared their state of residency.  
We bought our car plates each  year from my dh's home state. They were much 
cheaper.  Many register to  vote in Alaska so they can receive the annual 
permanent dividend check for each  member of his family, as long as they are  
military.
