They lived in PA. As far as anyone knows, no one lived in Alaska. This isn't all that long ago in that there are siblings of these enlistees that are still alive, so I have reasonable grounds to believe their information is accurate. Yet some of them have Alaska listed as their residence. Below is an example. The Alaska listing does leave some doubt that this is "my" John J. Doyle, but other siblings found have the same state listing, and all the other information is consistent with what is known.
