The Editorial pages of today's Globe and Mail (14 April 2006) includes an excellent article written by Professor Bill Waiser. The headline is "Say 'yes' for history's sake". The sub-headline states "Census information provides a snapshot of our past and must be publicly available, says historian Bill Waiser" Bill Waiser is one of those who were in the forefront of our campaign to regain public access to our Historic Census records. Using the 1906 Census records released because of our campaign he wrote a book to commemorate Saskatchewan's Centennial in 2005. The book was titled 'Saskatchewan: A New History'. Professor Waiser was successful in having a number of articles relating to our campaign published in major media sources when many others writing letters and articles were, for the most part, ignored. Todays article is available on the online version of the paper, but only to those who are 'Insider Edition' subscribers. My thanks to Judith Ueland for pointing me to this article.
