Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re:Draft cards

Allan & Theresa, It may be a matter of terminology. My father worked in an
aircraft plant at the outset of WWII and was "drafted" three times. His
foreman repeatedly went to the draft board to get him deferred so he could
stay and help build the planes needed for the war effort. When the third
notice came, my father made preparations to take my mother and I back to
their home town and so talked the foreman out of getting this notice
rescinded. However, when I view my father's WWII information is says he
enlisted. That may be technically true, because his draft notice came from a
draft board in the state where he was working and his actual entry into the
Army Air Corps was from his home state. So, since he entered the service
from his home state, neither his home draft board or the draft board where
he worked could report his entry. Just a guess on my part, though. Sharon

Subject: enlisted and draft cards for WWI and WWII

Why is when you see anything with WWI there is always a site to see draft
cards, but never a site for enlisted????????
Then when there is a sited mentioned for WWII there is only a sited listed
for enlisted, but never for drafted?????????
Can anyone answer this for me?????????

My grandfather enlisted in WWI and my father was drafted in WWII. I would
like to see a web sited for this, but Have never seen one.
