Subject: [ROOTS-L] Virginia Maynord

I am looking for the parents of Virginia Maynord she married J. Abner Henderson on May 9, 1863 in Granville, NC.
I found them in the 1880 Mangum, Orange, NC. census with the following information.

J.Abner Henderson 38 farming NC.NC.NC.
Virginie W. Henderson 37 keeping house NC. NC. NC.
son James M. Henderson 14 NC. NC. NC.
son Walter L. Henderson 13 NC. NC. NC.
son Thalus P.Henderson  9 NC.NC.NC. NC.
Daughter Anna E. Henderson 5- NC.NC. NC.

Thalus married Maud Gardner. He had changed his name to Ben J. Maynord in the 1900 census.
I know he took his mother's maiden name but I don't know about the rest of the children.
Does any one know why he changed his name? Some of the family thought there was some kind of a family problem. Did Abner and Virginia get a divorce? Did she take her maiden name back?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
