Subject: [ROOTS-L] Update on Locating a Residence in NYC
Sender: roots-in@roots-l.rootsweb.com

Folks, just wanted to say thanks for all those who have been sending in suggestions and ideas. After closer examination of the
passenger listing, it can be seen that my grandfather August Zakowski, is going to meet his BROTHER-IN-LAW at 539 Alexander. (That
in-law part is hiding up there and is very easily missed) We think this may be Max or Alex not my original thinking of Mrs. I
still think this is an address in NYC, most likely Manhattan as there is no other address info with it. And while his final
destination is Wilkes-Barre where my dad grew up, I don't think this is a reference to there.

So let's keep our thinking caps on and see if we can find a listing in the 1900 NYC census for an Alexander (place? park?). I have
come across a reference to an Alexander Ave in The Bronx but have not yet been able to find it in the census so that is still a
possibility too.

Again, thanks for all the ideas. Will keep you posted as I make progress.

Joe
