Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: Courthouse Records

Perhaps I have merely been lucky, but I have searched records in many
courthouses and have never been refused by the staff when I have
requested photocopies of pages from the (big, heavy) books. Several
times, the staff have directed me to the copier and let me make my own
copies. I didn't mind that a bit, as I realize that making copies for us
genealogists is not their primary job. Most courthouse staff people are
very understanding about our passion and are very willing to help. Yes,
the suggestions previously made (digital camera and copy stand, etc.)
will work, but may not be necessary.
