Subject: [ROOTS-L] Physicians of the Nineteenth Century

I have hit a "brick wall" in trying to find out where in Eastern PA a Dr. Samuel L. Coble was raised.  He went to Indiana County, PA at the age of about 33 then went to Missouri where he died in 1872. I thought the fact that he was a practicing physician might lead me somewhere.  I've checked with all of the Philadelphia teaching hospitals that were around in the early 1800s as well as with Baltimore with no luck. I've also tried the AMA.  Does anybody have a better source or a bettter suggestion?
I'm stumped.
