Subject: [ROOTS-L] Langley

I'm still not having any luck on my ggrandfather Mortimor or Mortimer
Chubbery or Chubier or Chubee. He was born in Ste. Genevieve Mo. 1844.
Had a twin brother! I thank Jasuha? Don't know his parents names or where
they were from, have not a clue of anything outside of what I knew 20
years ago!!! I don't think I'm a good genealogist!!! Kin. found all I
have in a day !!! But I'm going to try to make this post a better one.
Mortimer Langley was boarding with a Nally {John} family in 1880 census in
Jasper Co, Mo, latter marrying one of his daughters Roseanna Nally or
Nalley. I found a descendant of Roseanna's that told me John came by her
father's house in IN. with Mortimer with him, on his way to Mo. He told
them thay had been up No. don't know where No. Mortimer and Roseanna were
married in Jasper Co. Mo. March 1886. Having four children Charles Langley
who died young. He had a son by his first marriage Ernest Langley born in
Jasper Co. Mo. in 1913. Ernest died in the state of Calif.

He was married to my mother's sister Marie Nelson Langley in Jasper Co
Mo. My mother was married to Ernest's cousin Silas C. {Chubbery} Shields.
His mother my grandmother was Bessie May or Mae Langley {Mortimer's}
daughter. She was born you guessed it Jasper Co. Mo. and died in Greene
Co. Mo. They had a Hally and a Nally, daughters. Born? Died ? I was told
there was a William Chubbery or William Mortimer or Mortimer William.
Could be Chubbery William. But I can't find him?? I wonder if Mortimer
and Chubbery are last names of his parents?? I have never found him in a
family setting with his parents or children. Why? His father was to have
died in an accident near Cane Hill Ark. Can't find that in any papers or
them in a census. The only thing I found was a Mrs. Prerbe Langley
marrying a Mr. Cornelius Kiekendall. If that was his mother ? He talked
to my dad of being raised by a stepdad because his died when he was
young. But he's never with them that I can find. After his son Charles
lost his second wife a Club. His son died from a old head injury of a
transformer fall on his head while at work for the electric Company. and
Mortimer went and got his grandson and raised him. I was lucky enough to
meet Enerst's half sister she said that she remembered her grandpa coming
to get her brother, and that her mother's family raised her. She told me
that grandpa would come bring her brother to see her and play while he
sat in the wagon. Dorthy the half sister died about five years ago in
Jasper Co. Mo. I don't know if he and his twin was raised by someone
other than there parents, was orphaned or put in a poor house, but thay
are out of any records I look in. He had no s.s.#. and I can't find any
birth record. He was to be full blood Cherokee or Creek don't know. but
I do know thay were afraid of the whites back then. It said that his step
father brought them to Carthage Mo. after marrying his mother . All
records I have found list mother and father unknown. any suggestion or
help would be just fantastic. Thank you all so much . Brinda
