I don't know about the Spanish  marring into the Irish families, But I do
know that My great-great grand mother who was born in Ireland,  Had jet
black hair and Ivory skin or what is all said to be fair skinned.  She also
had Blue eyes and she was said to be Black Irish.  she and her ancestors
were from County Cork and Roscommon.  The were also Irish Catholics
