Subject: [ROOTS-L] First Families of Waterbury

Waterbury Connecticut, which grew from the Mattatuck Plantation, was
settled principally by families from Farmington (est. 1645), which in
turn was settled principally by families from Hartford (est. 1635).

Our mailing list, CT-Waterbury-L, is starting a new research project
called "First Families of Waterbury". The goal of this project is to
gather in a single place as much information as we can about these first
families, and have scholarly debate on any discrepancies, backing our
theories and opinions up with whatever facts we can find.

As the project matures, we will begin tracing in both directions.

If you have family that spent time in early Waterbury Connecticut
(1686->) or its neighboring towns, we'd love to have your
participation. Join the mailing list "CT-Waterbury-L" by sending an
email to:

            CT-Waterbury-L-request@rootsweb.com

with the body containing the word "subscribe".

Not sure? Some of the towns that were spawned from Waterbury include:

Watertown (1780) ==> which in turn spawned Plymouth (1795) which
spawned Thomaston (1875)
    Wolcott (1796)
    Middlebury (1807)
    Prospect (1827)
Naugatuck (1844) ==> which in turn spawned Beacon Falls (1871)

Near neighbors who frequently exchanged residency with Waterbury
include:

     Farmington
     Woodbury
     Litchfield

Come look at our website:

and follow the links to our very young project "First Families of
Waterbury".

Thanks for your participation,
