Subject: [ROOTS-L] Re: Kick-a-Poo, Ks. ancestors

I too have ancestors from the Kick-a-Poo, Kansas area. At least they lived
there for some years. Would appreciate some help from someone in that area.
My father born there in April 1892 and 3 siblings, 11/1888, 8/1890, and
youngest 8/1894.. Only record I could find was a baptisiam record from the
Sacred Heart Church of Kick-a-poo for the youngest child. My father had told
me that all of their birth records were there. The surnames involved here are
as follows: Pape/Pappe - Jauernig - Ghwarnick- Bohns were godparents for the
youngest child in August 1894. I know this family left this area in late 1899
or early 1900.
These children attented what my father called "The Little Red School House".
He took me to see the farm where they lived and the school, but I can find no
record of the births, other baptisiams or school records. Any help would be
most appreciated. There was also a name of "Lohfeld" that may be important to
finding some trace of this family.
Thank you, Antonia
