This listing is donated to the public domain and may be freely copied. Under no conditions can this listing be sold or used in any other commercial fashion. If you think this list has any value, then donate that value in helping your local genealogical society (or the National Genealogical Society). If you write to any of the societies on this list for information, remember to include a self addressed stamped envelop (SASE). Many of these societies work with a limited budget, supplemented by volunteers, and can not afford to respond unless a SASE is included in your letter. Arizona State Genealogical Society P.O. To obtain copies of the records write to the state office at: Arizona Department of Health Services P.O. Box 3887 Phoenix, AZ 85030 Birth record: $9 Death record: $6 Date: Thu, 17 Jun 1993 07:52:33 -0700 From: Ann Moss I wanted to let you know of my frustration in getting some death records from the Arizona Vital Statistics. ... Yesterday, received it all back in the mail - their response dated 6/11/93 with the following things requested: effective 6/13/93 cost is $6 per certificate so the amount previously sent was the incorrect amount, complete their form, signature must be notarized or a copy of a government issued id with a photo and the signature showing, requesters birth certificate showing relationship, pedigree chart showing lineage for genealogy. Some earlier records for 1887 to 1909 consist of births and deaths recorded by the individual counties where the events occurred. The counties that participated sent copies to the Arizona Department of Health Services, and the records are available at both places. Marriage Records: There is no statewide registration of marriages. From an 1864 territorial law required county recorders to keep marriage and divorce records.m 1891 to 1912, clerks of probate courts issued marriage licenses. Marriage records are presently kept by the superior court of the county in which the event occurred. Divorce Records The earliest divorce records were granted by the territorial legislature and are found in the published Territorial Statutes. Later divorce proceedings were kept by the district court of each county until 1912, when the superior court was given this jurisdiction. *************************************************************************** STATE ARCHIVES Department of Libraries, Archives and Public Records Old Capitol Building 1700 West Washington Phoenix, AZ 85007 *************************************************************************** NEWSPAPER GENEALOGICAL COLUMNS **************************************************************************** * Bill Green Minot, North Dakota 58701 * Home of the * * bgreen@milo.NoDak.Edu * NORSK H0STFEST * * Bill90@Delphi.Com * * ****************************************************************************
