Segal" >Subject: new locator service I wanted to share a good source of information with you.. and let you know about a service that exists in California. I think this might be a good way to either make contact with, or find the location of, people we need to help with our genealogical research. It is called FEDERAL LOCATOR and they maintain a database of federal employees (past & present, civilian & military) who have registered with them. Address: FEDERAL LOCATOR, P.O. BOX 51315, Riverside, CA 92517-2315. They will do an online search for you if you send them a self-addressed stamped envelope, info about the person you are looking for, and $5.00. If the person you are looking for is registered with them, they send you the current address and phone number. If the person you are looking for is not registered, they let you know; either way, they keep the $5.00 For their trouble. Seems to me that most people were connected with the government at one time or another.. usually in the service. I don't know how many people are registered with them but it's probably a good place to start. I think I'll register with them just in case someone is looking for me. By the way, I'm not connected with them in any way... it just seems like a good deal at a fair price. /end/
